Husky Stadium

Husky Stadium (UW‘s football stadium, which is “annually voted the most scenic football structure in the nation” due to its views of Lake Washington, Mt. Rainier, the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, and downtown Seattle) just started undergoing a significant makeover. Earlier this month, I snapped a picture of the stadium with only about 25% of the southern half of the stadium still standing (picture below; sorry it’s blurry, but I was in the car when I took it). The southern half of the stadium is now completely gone (which made Mom squeal happily, because she’s a big WSU fan). I took the other picture of the stadium last summer, while walking along the WA Arboretum Trail.

In addition to rebuilding the southern half of the stadium, they will be moving the field slightly, creating new premium seating areas, and more. They even have webcams so you can monitor the stadium’s renovation progress. 😛 The stadium is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2013, just in time for the new UW light rail station, which is suppposed to be finished in 2014. Exciting stuff!
